    EU Green Deal: the European Rail Supply Industry is ready!

    Today, 11 December 2019, at an extraordinary European Parliament plenary session, European Commission’s President Ursula von der Leyen delivered an historical speech presenting her mandate’s hallmark undertaking: the EU Green Deal. The first European climate law aimed at boosting the bloc’s 2030 climate targets, as well as specific and cross-sectoral initiatives pertaining to transport, energy, chemicals, construction and more,  for one overarching objective: setting the pathway to make Europe the first climate-neutral Continent by 2050. Ms. von der Leyen has announced that up to €100bn would finance this transition and safeguard Europe’s industrial and economic competitiveness.

    UNIFE promoted rail quality at EXPO Ferroviaria 2019

UNIFE headed to Milan to share with EXPO Ferroviaria attendees how the International Rail Quality Board (IRQB) and IRIS CertificationTM are revolutionising global perceptions of our industry. At this 1-3 October conference, UNIFE joined 300 international exhibitors at Italy’s most prominent railway technology, products and systems exhibition to share the wide scope of this association’s activities. Our stand’s discussion centred on the promotion of robust railway systems as the EU experiences growing demand for rail transport.

    Horizon Europe Programme at its crossroads! UNIFE joins a call on the European institutions to support an ambitious budget for Horizon Europe

    UNIFE is proud to be amongst the 93 European associations representing key European research & innovation stakeholders to call for an ambitious Horizon Europe Programme. The joint statement urges the European institutions to increase the budget in the next Multiannual Financial Framework for research, development and innovation (RD&I) to at least €120 billion. In order for Horizon Europe to deliver on its promises, the joint call argues for at least 60% budget share of the Horizon Europe’s total budget to be allocated to its pillar II - Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness pillar.

    UNIFE urges the European Institutions to ensure a level-playing field between the European and the Chinese rail supply industry

    The press has recently been reporting about the purchase of the locomotives business of a German manufacturer by the Chinese State-owned train-builder CRRC, thereby confirming China’s strategy to enter and conquer the European rail market. In this context, UNIFE deems as essential to reiterate its call for a real level-playing field and for fair conditions between the European and the Chinese rail supply industry.
