UNIFE is seeking a trainee for a period of between 4 and 6 months to start as soon as possible, the latest in February 2009. The trainee will be part of the Railway Systems Unit of UNIFE, which supports UNIFE members in standardisation, regulation and R&D at European level. He/she will play a supportive role in the Unit, assisting the project managers of the different R&D projects in organisational activities and dissemination of results and supporting coordinators in technical committees.

Candidate’s requirements:

• EU National
• Student at post-graduate level (at least 3 years completed at a University).
• Good social, communication and diplomatic skills.
• Technical knowledge of rail transport system and of the EU institutions is an advantage.
• The candidate must be fluent in English; knowledge of other European languages, in particular French and German is an advantage.

Key responsibilities:

• Monitoring and assisting in dissemination activities for R&D projects (conference organisation, publications, website update, etc)
• Supporting role for specific technical dossiers (following Committees, reporting and analysis, etc)
• Participation at specific conferences in Brussels
• Assisting the UNIFE Railway Systems Unit in its general tasks
