Mirror Groups

Mirror Groups are temporary groups active during the drafting and revision of Technical Standards for Interoperability (TSI)s by the European Railway Agency. They are open to all UNIFE member experts and convene on a periodic basis. Each group’s speaker coordinates the technical work, supported by a UNIFE staff member. The speaker plus one or two additional experts attend the ERA Working Party meetings, where they represent the supply industry’s combined interests.are temporary groups following specific European Railway Agency’s activities.

Commission Directive 2009/131/EC - Interoperability of the Rail System

Commission Decision 2009/965/EC - Interoperability of the Rail System

The Cross acceptance and certification MG aims to share experiences in the authorisation and certification process, and also to give update regarding the European and national regulation status. Moreover group members participates and give inputs to the following ERA working parties:

1) Cross Acceptance: with the objective to create a document cross referencing all the national technical rules applied by MS for placing vehicles into service and classify them (A,B,C) and to harmonise the NSAs processes and decision making criteria;

2) European Register of Authorised types of Vehicles (ERATV), with the first objective to define unambiguously ‘type/type version’ and the list of parameters to insert in the register in order to reach the types register aim, which is to simplify the authorisation process to put vehicle in to service

3) Register of Infrastructure – RINF, which activity is to draw a common specification for the Register of Infrastructure. It will list all the parameters that deviate from the TSI for both TSI compliant and non TSI compliant lines.

4) Conformity Survey Group (CSG), aiming at the conformity assessment, in particular related to the modules for the conformity assessment to the TSI, the application guide for the TSI and the chapter 6 of each new or revised TSI.

* Provide position papers on specific topics when required or necessary

*Provide inputs to other Mirror or Topical groups if considerations of the safety aspect are necessary or required. Currently for §7 of the CR Loc&Pas TSI.

TSI CCS

under review

The MG EMC has mainly dealt with the just ended R&D project called Railcom. Its results are very important for the ongoing work at CENELEC level. Moreover, the TG is now directly dealing with work that has started at the European Railway Agency (ERA) and their cross acceptance unit. One of the major stumbling blocks in cross acceptance in Europe are matters related to ‘interference’. Here again the results of the Railcom project will be used to support ERA.
