Michael Clausecker has been Director General of UNIFE for the past three years. He was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1966. He began his professional career at Daimler-Benz after completing his studies in business economics. In 1991 he helped privatise Diesel Engine Manufacturers for the German Privatisation Office. From 1993 onwards he was Managing Director at DWA Deutsche Waggonbau AG, later Bombardier Transportation which lead to it becoming the leading rail freight car manufacturer in Europe. In 1999 Michael Clausecker began to take on a worldwide responsibility for locomotives by becoming Head of Division at Siemens AG in Erlangen and Munich In 2001, he was appointed Managing Director of the German rail supply industry association – VDB and in early 2007, Michael Clausecker was appointed Director-General of UNIFE. Michael Clausecker holds an MBA from the Open University in the United Kingdom.
