 UNIFE/DIW Meeting with Russian Transport Committee
UNIFE attended the forum in the Russian Parliament on the issue of liberalisation and structural reform of the rail sector in Russia. The meeting was co-organised by the DIW (German Institute for Economic Research).
Other attendees included the Deputy Russian Minister for Transport, members of the Russian Parliamentary Transport Committee, Members of the German Parliament, representatives from the supply industry such as Bombardier Transportation and Siemens Transportation Systems and various consultants.
The aim of the forum was to describe the present situation in Russian and to outline a plan for the future liberalisation and development of the rail sector. The attendees were then asked to present their views, experiences and suggestions.

The European Drivers' Desk R&D Project
On the 4th of October UNIFE organised in association with FAV, a German consultancy firm, a workshop on European Train Driver's Desk Technologies and Functionalities - Scenario 2020. This workshop aimed at introducing the European Drivers' Desk project, co-ordinated by FAV, to the railway supply industry as well as the operators. 13th International Wheelset Congress
The International Wheelset Congress is organised every three years, and represents a useful meeting point for experts and business makers in the area of wheelsets and railway technology. This year's congress took place in Rome in the exceptional and historic venue of Santo Spirito Hospital at the gates to Saint Peter's cathedral.
