Why an Environment and Transport Working Group?
Sustainable development is an important issue today |
The Environment and the protection of it is a horizontal issue, it effects all policy making areas and all phases of the manufacturing process and the environmental performance of products |
There is an increasing amount of legislation at a European, national and global level which protects the environment - manufacturers have to comply with this legislation |
UNIFEs members customers increasingly demand environmentally friendly products |
Sustainability of rail is one of its competitive advantages - therefore one has to ensure that this competitive advantage is exploited |
UNIFE can therefore provide a forum where experiences and problems are shared. From this, common issues can be isolated and UNIFE can set about searching for solutions. It is also the role of UNIFE to pass this information on to all members through business reports and Seminars.
The working group has also establish relations with and works with many other organisations involved in transport and environment issues on behalf of the industry.
