UNIFE Fact Sheet for applicability of EU Machinery Directives and Regulations to Turnout Systems

The Machinery regulation (2023/1230) is an updated iteration repealing the Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC) and has been published on 14 June 2023. It shall apply in its entirety from 14 January 2027. The Guide to Application of the Machinery Directive Edition 2.3 from April 2024 - that UNIFE contributed to - clearly mentions that turnouts are not subject to the Machinery Directive. This has to be made clear for the new Machinery regulation (2023/1230) as well.
