As of today, UNIFE begins its #VoteForRail campaign.

We are urging voters to consider political platforms at the European Elections in June, which invest in rail solutions, encourage growth, promote upskilling, drive innovation, and address the challenges in STEM education.

Over the next few months, we will outline why you need to #UseYourVote, by outlining not only the policies you need to be looking out for, but also vital information which will help you cast your vote.

This is your chance to send a positive message and encourage policymakers to act and make decisions in building a better Europe.

Why are we doing this?

Democracy is a European value, and there is no better way to live that value than voting.

The European Elections in June 2019 had a turnout rate of 50.66%. While this is one of the highest ever for European elections, nearly half of the European population did not have their say.

This is for many reasons – many people aren’t aware elections are being held, don’t understand the European voting system in their country or didn’t really have enough information to make an informed decision.

With so many issues becoming critical at once – whether it be Europe’s economic future, climate change, industry challenges or wanting to see better rail services and infrastructure – we want to provide a platform to promote voting and give people the information they need before June 6th.

What is UNIFE proposing?

UNIFE’s ‘On the Move to Net-Zero’, is an ambitious and positive agenda, which prioritises Europe’s economic security, climate solutions, skills, innovation, better regulation, and gender equity.

UNIFE, among its key policy demands for the next legislative cycle, underscores and identifies the private and public funding requirements which are central to ensuring the rail sector achieves net zero and becomes the backbone of Europe’s future prosperity.

Such rail investments could create tens of thousands of net-zero jobs throughout European rail supply chains.
