UNIFE PARTICIPATES IN EUROPEAN RAIL RESEARCH AND INNOVATION CONFERENCE IN PRAGUE

A delegation from UNIFE travelled to Prague to participate in the European Rail Research and Innovation Conference (ERRIC)/International Rail Freight Conference that took place on 18-19 March organised by Oltis Group.

The opening panel featured high-level speakers including Czech Transport Minister Dan Ťok, Director General of DG-Move, Joao Aguiar Machado, Vladmir Yakunin, President of Russian Railways, Dins Merirands, Deputy State Secretary of the Latvia Ministry of Transport (representing the Latvian Presidency of the EU), Josef Doppelbauer, Executive Director of the European Railway Agency. Philippe Citroën, Director General of UNIFE, also participated in this panel and gave a presentation on the importance of EU funded rail research and urged the Shift2Rail JU and Commission to begin the Shift2Rail R&D activities as soon as possible. Click here  to view Philippe Citroën’s presentation.

Giorgio Travaini, Senior Corporate Advisor for UNIFE, took the stage in the afternoon panel on Shift2Rail to explain the work of UNIFE and its members on the preparatory stage of the initiative. During the last panel of the day, Miroslav Fukan, Executive Director of Oltis Group, Chairman of the UNIFE SME Committee and member of the UNIFE Presiding Board presented on the new opportunities for SMEs in the EU railway sector. UNIFE also had a stand in the conference’s exhibition where UNIFE met with many of its members and other rail stakeholders throughout the conference.
